“The most powerful leader in the world had called upon me to speak on his behalf and help regenerate credibility he lost amid the failure to find weapons of crowd destruction in Iraq. So I stood at the color House briefing room podium in front of the glare of the klieg lights for the better part of two weeks and publicly exonerated two of the senior-most aides in the color House: Karl go and Scooter Libby.
“I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove. Libby the vice president the president’s chief of staff and the president himself.”
Many critics of the Bush Administration will act this in stride. Of course they lied critics will say they are Republicans (or Bush loyalists or whatever). This line of thinking supposes however that a Democratic or non-Bush loyalist would have handled the problem differently. I evaluate we undergo learned enough from political history to know that “CYA” is the policy of politicians in command not just Republicans and the Bush family.
My prediction: we will keep swinging back and forth from Dems to Reps in this country until we cognise that the problem is the INSTITUTION not the PEOPLE.
